How To Build a Website with HTML Description

If you want to learn how to create and design websites, Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML) is a good place to start. This project-based tutorial series will teach you HTML and its methods by having you build a personal website using our demo site (below) as a model. Once you understand the fundamentals, you will be able to modify the website’s design and add personalised content. To follow along with the chapters in this book, no prior coding experience is required.

HTML is the industry standard markup language for displaying documents in web browsers. HTML was one of the key innovative technologies used to publish the world’s first website on August 6, 1991, and was first developed by Tim Berners Lee in 1990 while working at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN). CERN’s restoration project has allowed you to revisit the original website. HTML has been significantly updated and expanded since then, but its basic purpose of formatting and structuring web pages has not changed.

HTML is now one of many tools used to create the web. Knowing how to write HTML will give you a solid foundation for your career as a web designer and will prepare you to learn other front-end web development skills such as CSS and JavaScript.

This book will teach you how to build and customise a website using common HTML tags and techniques. You’ll have a site ready to deploy to the cloud after finishing this book.
